The Fire Academy is the academic services division of The Fire Network. It is an educational services program aimed at helping students improve their academic performance by providing a variety of opportunities for academic enrichment, tutorial services, and leadership development. Research provides evidence that Academic OST (Out of School Time) has a positive effect on academic achievement. JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a Program Leader, you’ll be assigned up to 20 students. You’ll help ensure that students understand class concepts and complete assignments. You’ll become a mentor to the students in your group ensuring that they not only grow academically, but socially. We believe that leaders help to build other leaders and we want you to bring your unique leadership style to our students to help them reach their potential.

We’re looking for Program Leaders who have a genuine interest in the growth and development of students and can ensure a safe and nurturing, engaging, and fun educational environment for the students they teach. Program leaders are expected to manage their group through leadership, communication, and patience as they deliver the curriculum and lesson plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sanitize area student space.
Distribute snack to students.
Assist students with homework.
Provide enrichment activities for students who have completed regular assignments.
Manage classroom behavior to ensure students are being safe, responsible, and respectful.
Instruct students in leadership development curriculum.
Oversee student pick up.
Clean and sanitize student space and dispose of all trash.

Program Leaders work 3-5 days a week for a minimum of 3 hours each day on days varying Monday-Friday between the hours of 12pm – 6pm. Schedules vary from school to school.
You will work in accordance with the calendar of the assigned school. There will be no After School Program on days where the school is closed.


QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. Required
Ability to speak and write Standard English appropriate in a public-school setting.
Proficient in Common Core Math (K – 8)
Excellent communication skills (Written and Verbal)

EXPERIENCE:
At least six months experience working or volunteering with a group of 10 or more students in a classroom, after school, or recreation environment.

REQUIREMENTS:
Background Checks Required
Provide a clear TB test within the last 3 years.
